Silver Psychology Center
The Silver Psychology Center seeks to answer the question,
"Where can I find the best psychological services?"
Ours
is a referral practice. That is, the growth and success of our
practice has come through referrals from doctors and other
professionals, as well as satisfied patients. We wish to be selected by
you and not selected for you by a third party payor. Indeed, to protect
the integrity of the patient-psychologist relationship, we have been
very careful in affiliating with preferred provider networks and
insurers. We have rejected participation in plans that provide
inadequate support for services or compromise confidentiality. We
believe that decisions about the type of services you want or need are
best made by you in consultation with us. Furthermore, if someone who
has never seen you can override your choice or your psychologist's
clinical judgment, this interferes with high quality treatment. Thus, we
ask that you consider the value of your privacy, as well as the freedom
to choose the frequency and length of your treatment, in your cost
considerations. Privacy and freedom cost a little more. By choosing the
Silver Psychology Center you are also supporting the philosophy that
guides our services.
The Cost of a Psychological Evaluation
The psychologists at The Silver Psychology Center are well trained and highly experienced. All professional staff has been carefully selected by Drs. Robert and Deborah Silver based on their having met the high standard set at the Silver Psychology Center. Dr. Robert Silver has 38 years experience as a psychologist and is Board Certified in three specialty areas of psychology, including Clinical Psychology, which is the specialty that devotes most training and emphasis to psychological evaluations.
Psychological evaluations vary from the simple, limited, and
superficial to the most complex, comprehensive, perceptive analysis. No
two psychological evaluations are alike. The quality of the evaluation
also varies with the training, experience and skill of the psychologist
evaluator. If price is the only consideration, then you should find the
lowest priced evaluator. Otherwise, collecting the information to do a
good psychological evaluation takes time and ability. To the extent that
you desire an experienced, talented evaluator and wish a
comprehensive, in-depth analysis that produces meaningful results, you
will likely have to pay more. Consequently a psychological evaluation
may range from $750 to $3000, depending upon whether you are looking
for the best or the least.

There Is no screening for
ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER:
When you "just screen" for A.D.H.D., a lot of things can slip through the holes, like other things in a child's life that may be affecting his or her feelings and behavior. Marital, parenting, learning, social and peer problems may cause symptoms of A.D.H.D. but these issues require a completely different treatment from A.D.H.D.
The truth is, there is just no such thing as a simple screening for A.D.H.D. At the Silver Psychology Center, the diagnosis of your child's behavioral or learning problems will be based on the full range of tests and observations, including a developmental history and completion of behavioral questionnaires.
This is so you will feel confident that you are receiving a comprehensive evaluation. The use of an in-depth, broad spectrum approach reduces the likelihood of an incorrect diagnosis and assures a more appropriate and effective treatment.
